Thinking on Starting a Website?

I really want to start a website for the sole purpose of making money. I have basically no ideas for the website other than coming up with a good domain name(so it will show up in searches) and getting ads(to make money). But how does one go about getting affiliates for their website, do websites have some kinda form for other websites to sign up for.

and for anyone who wants to give me links, i dont wanna go with somthing like geocities i want my own domain.

Im also looking for a good (but cheap) host that will support most anything except maybe %26quot;add to cart%26quot; and things youd only need for a business based site,I plan on making it myself with the help of software and such.

My knowledge on this whole matter is limited so please explain in terms ill understand. any info is appreciated.

Yahoo has a fairly easy set up going. You can add your add to cart buttons through paypal and set your store up that way if cost is a problem. Or you can go with a commerce package if you want to spend about $40 or more a month.

As for picking a good name so it will be found, sorry- that has nothing to do with it. you can go to google.come or yahoo.com and submit your site for their crawler( spider) bots.

But all in all, you will need a site plan that will draw people to it, like a message board, or a specific item or product line. No one will want to go to your site to click on your pay per click ads.

I wish you all the luck. Running a successful website takes time, and you probably wont sell much for the first few months. The better chanced you will have is to get a package that includes some credit towards google adsense or some other advertising deals for your site.
