I have no web experience and want the easiest way of creating a website. I%26#039;ve got as far as buying a domain name but don%26#039;t know how to go about putting stuff on there! is there any free software I can download?
What%26#039;s a simple and cheap way of making a website?
Adobe%26#039;s Dreamweaver! Can download and play with the full version for free for a month, but then you have to buy it. If you%26#039;re a student, you can get it for WAY less. Visit http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweave...
Dreamweaver has a lot of simple features like MS Word. You can also use Word to create a web site, did you know that? When you select NEW... you%26#039;ll see the option %26quot;Web Page%26quot; to identify. It will look exactly like a regular Word document until you file it. Then the HTM or HTML extension will be popped onto the saved name. This talks to the browser and allows it to be viewed in Internet Explorer or Avant or whatever your browser happens to be.
Depending on how computer-savvy you are, and how much time you want to spend learning Dreamweaver you can figure it out on your own. Similar features to Word and a lot more comprehensive for the Web. Adboe also provides online tutorials to simplify things.
Anyone can create a web site, but pushing out to allow others to use it is the tricky part. It%26#039;s great that you have purchased a domain, but then you%26#039;ll need an upload tool of some kind to get the files to the server. (where the domain resides) You%26#039;ll need passwords to access the domain, which you probably have. WS-FTP is a simple, cute program that you can use to do that. Visit the link shown here as a source...they also have a FREE TRAIL period.
Lastly, and just to help you from making a rooky error, when you create your HOME page in whatever tool you use, name it INDEX. That way if someone types in your domain name into the browser, the INDEX will appear by default. If you don%26#039;t have an INDEX page, then nothing will appear. Does that make sense?
What%26#039;s a simple and cheap way of making a website?
there are free programs, but I have to say this to anyone who asks: there%26#039;s nothing like doing it yourself by hand, then it%26#039;s smaller, easyer to edit, and looks the way you want it.
Other Replys:You will need to learn html, this gives more flexibility. There are online site builders at many hosting sites. These normally have templates you can modify.
Other Replys:A pretty simple way, of installing, then updating, is to use a content management system (CMS), such as Joomla.
You just install, then search many websites for templates. There are many addon components and modules. And free too.
Other Replys:I%26#039;d recommend using a content management system (CMS) too. There are a few steps to getting one running:
1. Find a web host. Now that you bought a domain name, you need a place on the internet for that name to point to. There are tons of places that will hold your web site but they cost money. The one I use is HostingFest, which costs as little as $2 per month if you pay for a year.
2. Put the CMS onto your web site. If you have Linux hosting, look for Joomla. If you have Windows hosting, look for DotNetNuke. How to do this depends on the host. Some have a control panel where you can install them easily. Even if not, the host will probably be able to help with this. Look at their support website.
3. Start creating the web site. The CMS will have instructions on how to log in with the administrator account and set up pages. There should also be instructions on how to change the looks of the site.
Good luck!

Buy a template for cheap and get Dreamweaver and Photoshop to put it up, and customize it. There are easy books to read on those programs. To animate everything you needs Flash. Or just pay a designer to customize it and put it up. Or they have easy website builders that won%26#039;t be as difficult but it depends how nice you want the site to look.
Other Replys:Webstarts.com is your answer. It%26#039;s free to sign up and their online editor uses simple drag and drop functionality so you need zero web experience to build completely custom websites. They also have image search and video search tools, so dropping videos, images, text and even music takes 1 or 2 clicks at most. Check them out here: http://Webstarts.com
You can also register a domain or configure it to work with your existing domain. They make it really simple and provide everything: hosting, domain registration, tons of templates to choose from, images, videos, etc... I%26#039;ve never found anything out there quite like it. It%26#039;s pretty powerful, and at the same time super easy to use.
