want to sell custom made flip flops online on a website.. how do i get a domain for cheap and set up a website with a shopping cart?

How to make a website w/ shopping cart?
1) Register a domain name with GoDaddy (don%26#039;t get hosting there, though - you%26#039;re always better off when your domain name registrar is not the same company as your web hosting service)... it will run you $9 a year.
2) Get a web hosting account that automates the process of installing eCommerce applications. A basic HostGator account, for example, will run you $10 a month...

3) Once you%26#039;re logged into your hosting account%26#039;s control panel (cPanel), setting up an online store/shopping cart won%26#039;t cost you anything extra. Just click Fantastico, then select osCommerce or ZenCart (two popular PHP applications). Alternately, select Drupal, then install the excellent eCommerce add-in module (this is the one most of my clients prefer).
4) Alternately, after setting up your hosting account, get someone to configure your Drupal or osCommerce or ZenCart site for you. All three are extremely popular, have a large (and helpful) following, and contractors who specialize in those applications. Plus you won%26#039;t be paying for someone to re-invent the wheel for you.
4A) In addition to the support groups of the respective products, your best bet for finding additional help online would be Rent-a-Coder...

How to make a website w/ shopping cart?
You need to know HTML, PHP or CGI script, perl programming possibly, database like MySQL and solid knowledge about website security and database security.
It is not as easy as it sounds. Because once you have online transaction, there is a security and privacy issue. Customers need to give out the address, credit card information and all that personal information. No one is going to use the website if you can%26#039;t provide solid security. If you fail to provide security and privacy, and some hackers or stupid people hacked into your site and something happen, you are in big big trouble.
It is possible to learn. But it seems you have no prior knowledge about those programming and database. It might take you 3 - 6 months to be pretty good and knowledgeable in order to provide good service and great security to your customers.
I suggest save the trouble and use amazon or ebay =)

Other Replys:May I suggest that you get your own Domain name through www.GoDaddy.com (under $10 each name per year) and than use www.LowPriceBuilder.com to create your web site.
I use http://www.LowPriceBuilder.com for few years. They only charge flat price, ($15 per month) ,and include Web hosting, Shopping Cart system and 30 more features ..... etc. This would be the most inexpensive way to have your e-commerce web site to go online. The builder allows you to create your web page easily without knowledge of programming language. Also, apply for a Paypal account so you can integrate with your shopping cart later. Good Luck!
