Thinking of making a website?

I want to make a website about myself. I know that sounds stuck up, but I want to inform people about what I%26#039;ve done...that sounds stuck up too... Look I%26#039;m a blind competitive swimmer and I want to show people how I got here, and that I%26#039;m a normal teenager too. get the picture though all that?

so I want to make a website people can find me. and ask questions ect. So I don%26#039;t want to be hosted somewhere. I relize It cast some money but I would like to stay as cheap as possible. Also can anyone give me some Ideas on domain names? I%26#039;m thinking A____S____.com but is that too boring?

There are many thousands of companies that offer web hosting, at prices that range from a dollar per month to several hundred dollars per month. There are also %26quot;free%26quot; hosting providers, but usually they impose conditions or insert ads into your pages.

Are you saying that you want to use your own server, such as a dedicated server that you might lease? There are some very cheap dedicated-server deals, but a dedicated server is extreme overkill for just hosting one web site.

Choosing a domain name is always a challenge; you can use a site like domaintools.com to check out domain availablility for a whole bunch of domains very quickly, using their %26quot;bulk check%26quot; option (if the site is accessible).

I use my own name as my primary domain name (MarkWelch dot com) and it works fine for me, but 99% of names are %26quot;already taken.%26quot; Depending on the purpose of the site, you can use variations like %26quot;MarkWelchStory dot com%26quot; or %26quot;Mark Welch Swimmer dot com%26quot; or just go descriptive such as %26quot;blindswimmer dot com%26quot;
